SHARE Foundation\u2019s primary areas of activities are freedom of expression online, data privacy, digital security and open access to knowledge. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After a series of successful SHARE Conferences on internet culture and activism, gathering thousands of participants in Belgrade, Serbia (2011 &amp; 2012) and Beirut, Lebanon (2012), a community was formed with the purpose of embarking on continuous research and advocating for human rights in the digital environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our multidisciplinary team consists of legal and IT experts, artists and journalists. The Foundation has so far organised dozens of conferences, gatherings and workshops in Serbia and abroad, attended by leading activists and experts in digital rights and freedoms. As a contributing member of civil society, SHARE Foundation participates in public debates on relevant laws that might affect citizens\u2019 online rights in Serbia. The Foundation has also produced numerous&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sharefoundation.info\/en\/publication\/\">publications<\/a>&nbsp;and launched dozens of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sharefoundation.info\/en\/initiative\/\">websites<\/a>&nbsp;which serve as educational resources for citizens, human rights defenders and online media. The activities of SHARE Foundation in promoting digital rights have been recognised by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection of Serbia, who in January 2017 awarded the Foundation a certificate of gratitude for an outstanding contribution to promote the right to personal data protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Memberships &amp; networks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since March 2017, SHARE Foundation has been a member of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edri.org\/about-us\/our-network\">European Digital Rights (EDRi)<\/a>, an association of over 45 civil and human rights organisations from across Europe. In April 2017, the Foundation registered the first special Computer Emergency Response Team \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sharecert.rs\/\">SHARE CERT<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 which provides pro bono legal and technical assistance to online media and civil society in Serbia. SHARE CERT is a member of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.civicert.org\/\">CiviCERT<\/a>, a wide coalition of civil society CERTs from around the world, and is also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trusted-introducer.org\/directory\/teams\/share-cert.html\">accredited by Trusted Introducer<\/a>. In the summer of 2020, a group of prominent research and civic activism organisations from Southeast Europe came together to engage in regional cooperation regarding digital rights and freedoms of citizens. Co-founded by SHARE Foundation and Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sharefoundation.info\/en\/see-digital-rights-network-established\/\">SEE Digital Rights Network<\/a>&nbsp;has more than 20 member organisations from across the region \u2013 Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia \u2013 and is the first network of its kind that focuses on the digital environment and challenges to digital rights in Southeast Europe. &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a non-profit organisation, SHARE Foundation was established in 2012 to advance human rights and freedoms online and promote positive values of an open and decentralised internet, as well as free access to information, knowledge and technology.
